The Jouney: We
went out of Lisbon around 8h00AM, heading to London Heatrow. We lunch at
that airport and waited for the first conection flight of Qatar Airways
to Doha, Qatar. We landed on the confused Doha airport, that would be 1h00AM local, in a very much held tight connection on what we didn't stow in land more than 20 minutes.
From there, new connection this time to Male, capital of the Maldives. We land about 10H30AM, also local time (more 6h GMT relatively). This travel of almost 24h had like drawback the "stress" of the scale in Doha, and the fact of one of our luggages to have been "taking a walk" on Heathrow airport.
Eventhough, that was a pleasant travel, thinking that we were going in economy class.
The Resort: Located in one of many private islands of the Maldives, Kuredu is perhaps the biggest resort of the whole country. It's Island with around 1.5Km of length by 400m of width in the most wide part, makes it a reasonable dimensions island, only of that kind dedicated for tourism. For it's dimensions, it's easy to circle the island in somewhat more than an hour, and the island has no elevations (as a matter of fact the highest point of all Maldives will be arround 3mts. above sea level). Though it's one of the biggest resorts in the Maldives, you will not find the beach full of people, like somewhere in Algarve. It is more probable that you will be the only one in the beach in an 300mts extention... These are the guide lines for a few days to rest, and even to satisfy in part, the ancestral fantasy of " isolated in a desert island "... It's really almost like that, even without abdicating the modern luxuries, comfort and pleasures! There are several types of accommodation: Beach Villas, Jacuzzi Villas, Water Villas, Beach Bungallows and recentelly the "O" Beach Villas. We stayed in the Beach Bungalows, nice and unpretentious accommodations, without TV (fortunately) but with all the comforts and no more then 50 steps (literaly) to the water! Be prepared for another thing: The bathroom is in the open air. Do I find it strange? I found an experience what certainty remains with me all my life
New experiences, certainly will not lacking: The sunset, in the company of your loved one, the tranquil waters of the Indian Ocean, the pleasure of diving in the water with a turtle, the shiver for observing countless species of fish of all shapes and colors which you can't even imagine ... It's a unique experience that begins when you arrive and can only be stop when you leave ... What to do: Well .. You can do entirely nothing or get a diving course, be through a boat trip , or visiting other islands ... There are many activities that give even more shine to this destination. We chose snorkeling, some trips by boat and basically doing nothing! But it's possible, however, play all kinds of aquatic sports since the peaceful canoeing, to the radical Kitesurfing. The nightlife there doesn't exist. At 1h00AM you get yourself into bed! ... Not quite, of course, those who wish, may stay in bars or at the beach, but there will be nobody to attend you. After all, this is a haven for rest. High music and people shout out loud is all that we want less in Kuredu. Soon we appreciate the fact that there is nothing more beyond that hour ...
Was under a severe tropical thunderstorm that we left Kuredu, 7 days after we arrived. In our luggage, images of moments of dream, which will not be forgotten. The journey of seaplane was rough. We were thrown away, as if we were in a washing machine. Nothing special ... In those places the storms are quiet frequent, and comes as quickly as they vain and our (always barefoot) pilots, led us safely back to the airport in Male
